The Glenrothes Elders’ Reserve is stored in equal parts in both Bourbon and oak barrels. Thus the whisky takes over the characteristic taste nuances of the barrels and brings these into the aroma as well as the taste. The noble amber to golden colouring also finds its origin in the barrels.
Arôme
The aromas alone reveal the exotic note in Glenrothes Elders’ Reserve. Apples and mangoes give a slightly fruity freshness. In addition, a certain sweetness and a spicy hint of ginger can be perceived. The overall aroma is discreet.
Tasting
The taste of Single Malt Scotch, on the other hand, is very intense. In addition to the sweetness of vanilla and dried fruit, spicy notes dominate. Like nutmeg, for example, which can be clearly tasted. The citrus fruits give the powerful taste a pleasant freshness. Smoky aroma is not included. All in all, the Glenrothes Elders’ Reserve offers a very powerful, intense taste that deviates slightly from what one is used to from the Glenrothes distillery. That’s why it is especially interesting for connoisseurs, since classic components can still be found in the overall picture.

The whisky is rounded off by a spicy finish. This clearly shows that it has been aged and matured alternately in different barrels: a spicy oak combined with sweet vanilla gives a long and intense impression of the complex taste even on the finish.

The name was chosen by the manufacturer in honour of the elders in the community of Rothes.
