Olde English 800’s popularity is shown by the many names that have been given to it: Olde E, Old Gold, 8-Ball and OE are just some examples. Especially the rap stars from the west coast have been constantly praising this drink in their song lyrics. In the late eighties, N.W.A, the infamous rap group including Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and the late Eazy-E, recorded the song “8-Ball”, paying homage to their favorite drink. Recently rap superstar The Game’s hit album “Doctor’s Advocate” featured the track “Ol’ English”. The malt liquor could also be seen in the classic movies “Boyz N The Hood” and “Menace II Society”.
