Description
The Botanist Islay Cask Rested Gin is an exceptional interpretation of the multi-award-winning The Botanist Dry Gin – gently matured in oak casks previously used for other spirits on the Scottish island of Islay. This cask-aged variant comes from the renowned Bruichladdich Distillery, which is not only known for its whisky, but also for this unique gin, which is made with 22 wild-collected botanicals from Islay.
The additional maturation in oak casks gives this Cask Rested Gin a softer texture, warm vanilla and woody notes and a subtle depth that clearly distinguishes it from classic London Dry Gins. The cask ageing adds subtle flavours of honey, caramel and roasted spices without overpowering the characteristic herbal and citrus freshness of the original recipe. With an alcohol content of 46% vol., this premium gin is powerful, nuanced and perfectly balanced.
Tasting NoteColour: Light gold with a delicate shimmer.
Nose: Fresh yet warm with citrus zest, herbs, woody notes, vanilla and dried flowers.
Flavour: Complex and smooth with wild herbs, cinnamon, light oak, caramel, juniper and a hint of roasted spices.
Finish: Langs, smooth and elegant with subtle sweetness, vanilla tones and botanical freshness.
The Botanist Islay Cask Rested Gin is ideal on its own at room temperature as a meditative sipping gin. Alternatively, it can be elegantly presented in a barrel-aged Negroni, a gin old fashioned or in a classic gin sour. It also unfolds its full potential on ice with a sprig of rosemary or a lemon zest.
