Toison Handcrafted Ruby Red Gin is an artisan gin from Slovakia that combines the classic character of the multi-award-winning TOISON Gin with selected red berries. The base is created by macerating juniper, flowers and herbs in wheat spirit before the mixture is distilled. A distinctive feature of the production process follows distillation, as the gin is left to rest in historic earthenware vessels dating from the time of the former Czechoslovakia. This is followed by a further maceration with carefully selected raspberries, strawberries and black elderberries, which give this edition its characteristic ruby-red colour and fruity profile.

As Slovakia’s first coloured gin, Toison Ruby Red Gin occupies a special place within the range. Its intense colour comes from the berries used, with no artificial colourings or flavourings added. Visually, too, the 0.7-litre bottle with 38% ABV differs markedly from the classic Toison: whilst the latter’s design is deliberately understated and elegant, the red label and the striking ruby hue emphasise the distinctive character of the Ruby Red Edition. The combination of traditional maceration, distillation, maturation in historic earthenware vessels and subsequent berry maceration makes this Slovakian craft gin an exceptional interpretation of the classic Toison Gin.

Toison Handcrafted Ruby Red Gin is particularly well-suited to a fruity, fresh gin and tonic, whereby a fairly neutral tonic water brings out the character of the raspberry, strawberry and elderberry to best effect. Fresh berries or a twist of lemon make a suitable garnish, without unnecessarily masking the botanical profile. Furthermore, the Ruby Red Gin is ideal for spritz variations and summery gin cocktails with soda or sparkling wine. On the culinary front, light desserts with berries, fresh goat’s cheese or summery starters complement its fruity, floral style.
