Description
The Siegfried Herzog Deep and Purple Gin Nature Edition 40% Vol. 0.5 l is an exceptional, handcrafted premium gin from Austria that stands out thanks to its unique colour variation and natural production process. This gin is produced by the award-winning Siegfried Herzog Destillate distillery in Saalfelden in Salzburger Land, which is known for its high level of craftsmanship and creative approach to spirits. The Nature Edition stands for a consistently natural approach – without artificial additives, colourings or flavourings.
The special thing about this gin with a colour change: the use of natural plant extracts, in particular from the flower of the butterfly pea (Clitoria ternatea), initially gives the gin a strong, deep purple colour. When mixed with tonic water or other acidic mixers, it changes colour to a light Pinkster or a bright blue-violet, depending on the mixture. This play of colours is purely plant-based and a real highlight for cocktail creations and show effects at the bar.
The flavour of Deep and Purple Gin impresses with a balance of classic juniper notes, floral nuances and subtle herbal and citrus components. With an alcohol content of 40% by volume and a compact 0.5-litre bottle, it is ideal for anyone looking for something special – whether for their own home bar or as an original gift.
Tasting NoteColour: Intense violet, changes to pink or blue-violet on contact with tonic.
Nose: Fresh and floral with notes of juniper, citrus and slightly sweet floral aromas.
Flavour: Harmonious with a pleasant juniper base, accompanied by floral and slightly spicy herbs.
Finish: Clear, fresh and mild with a floral note in the aftertaste.
Deep and Purple Gin is perfect for creative gin & tonic variations – ideally with a neutral or slightly floral tonic to bring out the change in colour. It also provides visual and flavour highlights in cocktails such as a “Purple Gin Fizzers” or a “Lavender Collins”. Its floral freshness is particularly effective in combination with light starters such as goat’s cheese on beetroot carpaccio or Asian-inspired dishes such as sushi or summer rolls. Also ideal as a special aperitif at events or as an eye-catcher at cocktail evenings.
