Description

The Ardbeg Wee Beastie 5 Years Old is the youngest whisky in the core range of the famous Islay distillery Ardbeg. With a strong alcohol content of 47.4% vol. and a comparatively short maturation period of just 5 years, this single malt is particularly boisterous, intense and peaty – in the style of a wild “wee beastie”, as the name suggests.

Ardbeg is one of Scotland’s most traditional distilleries: whisky has been distilled here unofficially since 1794, before it was officially founded by John McDougall in 1815. The name “Ardbeg” comes from the Gaelic and means “little hill”, a reference to the geographical location on the south coast of Islay, a region that is world-famous for its heavily peated, maritime-influenced whiskies.

The Wee Beastie was specially developed for lovers of intensely smoky and youthful whiskies. Its maturation in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks gives it spicy, sweet and slightly fruity accents in addition to the dominant peat flavour. It is a whisky with a strong character, characterised by its unrestrained and direct aroma.

Tasting NoteColour: Light gold.

Nose: Intense peat smoke notes with earthy, medicinal hints, accompanied by black pepper, tar and dark chocolate.

Flavour: Powerful, smoky and spicy with notes of smoked meat, espresso, black pepper and a slight sweetness of vanilla and dried fruit.

Finish: Langs and intense with lingering smoke, salty sea notes and a fine herbal spice.

The Ardbeg Wee Beastie 5 Years Old is a whisky for real peat smoke fans and is ideal for drinking straight or with a few drops of water. Due to its powerful structure, it is ideal with BBQ dishes, grilled meat, mature cheese or dark chocolate with chilli.
