The Laphroaig SELECT Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the most accessible bottling from the traditional Laphroaig Distillery and was specifically designed as a harmonious introduction to the world of peated Islay single malts. This bottling is created by blending selected single malts from five different cask types, resulting in a smooth, balanced and complex Scotch whisky. The layered appearance with warm golden tones reflects the variety of cask maturations and emphasises the careful blending approach of this edition. Bottled at 40%, the Laphroaig SELECT is round, clearly structured and typical of the brand without being too demanding.
The maturation includes whiskies from Oloroso sherry casks, Pedro Ximénez sherry hogsheads, ex-bourbon casks and first-fill ex-quarter casks and is finished in new American oak casks (virgin oak), a rare wood source for Scotch whisky. This wide range of casks gives the Laphroaig SELECT its balance of peat smoke and seaweed with room for red fruits, lime and a floral finish. As the distillery’s most palatable bottling, it reflects over two hundred years of distilling tradition in a modern, accessible form. The high-quality gift box rounds off the harmonious overall impression.
