Description
Matthew Gloag, the founder’s grandson of the same name, took over the family business 96 years after it was founded in 1800. A year later, he created a new blend, which he called “The Grouse Brand” (grouse) in the expectation that many hunters would stop off in Perth during the hunting season. His daughter designed the matching label with the Scottish national bird. The whisky immediately sold so well that within just a few years “The Famous” was added to the name and the term “Brand” was simply dropped. And so the popular whisky is still called The Famous Grouse today.
This Famous Grouse is created from a selection of Speyside malts and grains. It is matured and finished in sherry casks.
The label shows the Spanish capercaillie.

Nose: Fruity, figs.
Flavour: Fruity, spicy, notes of sherry and caramel, hints of dark chocolate.
Finish: Langs on the palate.
This whisky tastes best at room temperature with a drop of water.
