The Douglas Laing Scallywag Winter Edition 2022 is a limited, high-proof Speyside whisky composition that is perfect for the Kaltern season. Inspired by the playful and mischievous fox terriers of the Douglas Laing family, this whisky not only bears the name “Scallywag” (little rascal), but also embodies its cheeky, lively yet sweet nature.
This blended malt Scotch whisky is a harmonious blend of Speyside single malts that have been carefully matured in Spanish Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. This special cask selection provides an intensely fruity and spicy profile with deep chocolate and dried fruit flavours, perfectly balanced for the Kaltern months.
With a natural cask strength of 54% vol, the Winter Edition 2022 offers a powerful, warming intensity that still remains smooth and balanced. It is bottled without colouring or chill-filtration to present the whisky in its purest form. There are only 5,400 bottles worldwide, making this edition a coveted rarity for whisky lovers.
Tasting NoteColour: Deep mahogany with reddish reflections.
Nose: Rich dark fruits, sultanas, cinnamon, nuts and dark chocolate, interwoven with sweet vanilla and a subtle oak note.
Taste: Full-bodied and powerful, with notes of sherry sweetness, caramelised almonds, dried plums, orange zest and spices such as nutmeg and cloves.
Finish: Long-lasting, warm and spicy, with hints of dark chocolate, Christmas spices and a light oak spice.
The Scallywag Winter Edition 2022 is best enjoyed neat or with a drop of water to open up its deep sherry and fruit flavours even further. It goes perfectly with dark chocolate, fruit bread or Christmas biscuits. It is also ideal in combination with mature cheese or candied nuts to reveal its wintery flavours.
