The Ailsa Bay Sweet Smoke Single Malt Scotch Whisky Release 1.2 48.9% Vol. 0.7 l is a modern and innovative bottling from the still young Ailsa Bay Distillery, which was founded in 2007 by William Grant & Sons in Girvan (Lowlands). The distillery is known for its high-tech distillation methods, with which it produces whiskies of exceptional precision and consistency.
Release 1.2 Sweet Smoke was matured in a combination of fresh, heavily burnt American oak casks and casks that previously contained sweet Pedro Ximénez sherry. This maturation gives the whisky its exciting interplay of sweet fruitiness and intense smokiness. Bottled at 48.9% vol., natural colour and without chill filtration, it is authentic, strong and complex.
Tasting NoteColour: Amber with golden reflections.
Nose: Sweet and smoky with notes of vanilla, caramel, sherry sweetness, fresh fruit and fine wood smoke.
Flavour: Full-bodied and complex with a balance of toffee, dried fruit, caramel, smoke, oak and spices.
Finish: Langs, smoky and sweet at the same time, with vanilla and sherry notes in the aftertaste.
The Ailsa Bay Sweet Smoke Release 1.2 is ideal for pure enjoyment to experience its special combination of sweetness and smoke. With a few drops of water, additional nuances open up and the sherry sweetness emerges more clearly. In culinary terms, it harmonises perfectly with grilled meat, strong cheeses or dark chocolate. It is also an intense accompaniment to a fine cigar.
