The Bowmore Vault Edition Atlantic Sea Salt First Release is an outstanding single malt bottling from the legendary Bowmore Distillery, the oldest distillery on the Scottish island of Islay. This limited special edition was created as the first release of the Vault Edition and represents the distinctive maritime side of Bowmore – characterised by salty sea air, peaty smoke and deep, complex flavours.
The name Vault Edition refers to Bowmore’s famous No.1 Vaults Warehouse, one of the oldest warehouses in Scotland. Located directly on the rugged coast of Islay, it enables particularly intensive maturation due to the constant influence of the sea climate. The combination of this unique storage and the classic Bowmore smokiness makes this whisky a real rarity.
With an alcohol content of 51.5% vol. at cask strength, Atlantic Sea Salt offers an intense and unfiltered flavour experience that captures Bowmore’s maritime characteristics in their purest form.
Tasting NoteColour: Golden amber.
Nose: Peat smoke, sea salt, lemon zest, ripe pears, vanilla and toasted oak.
Flavour: Full-bodied and intense, with notes of salty caramel, smoked wood, dark chocolate, toffee and a fresh sea breeze.
Finish: Long lasting, slightly oily, with a distinctive combination of salt, peat smoke and spicy oak flavour.
The Bowmore Vault Edition Atlantic Sea Salt is best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to further emphasise the balance between smoke, salt and sweetness. Its maritime flavour makes it the perfect companion for fresh oysters, grilled fish or smoked salmon. It also unfolds its full potential in combination with spicy hard cheese, dark chocolate with sea salt or BBQ dishes.
