Description
Sweden originally had no whisky tradition until the Mackmyra distillery was founded in 1999. The distillery places great emphasis on using only Swedish products, including crystal-clear water from the region and specially grown barley with a sweet note due to the Langs summer days.
This Mackmyra Whisky is matured in a variety of cask sizes, including ex-bourbon American oak casks, Swedish oak casks and Oloroso sherry casks, which gives it a variety of flavours.
A special note is the “Swedish smoke”, which is created through the use of local peat and juniper twigs. This gives the peated whisky a unique flavour profile reminiscent of a campfire in the forest. The peat used comes from the Karinmossen bog near the distillery.
