The Hunter Laing Scarabus 10 Years Old Islay Single Malt is a powerful and complex whisky that captures the rugged and wild flavours of Islay. Named after an area of the island whose name “Scarabus” translates as “rocky place”, this whisky reflects both the geographical distinctiveness and the history of Islay. The bottle and its motifs were inspired by John Francis Campbell, a Scottish scholar and author, and provide a fascinating insight into the island’s tradition.
The Scarabus 10 Years Old is matured for at least 10 years in a combination of refill, ex-bourbon and American virgin oak casks, giving it impressive complexity and depth. The result is an Islay single malt that is characterised by its typical sweet peat notes and also surprises with an extra portion of complexity. With an alcohol content of 46% vol., this whisky offers a powerful but balanced blend of peat smoke, sweet and spicy flavours.

Nose: Sweet Islay peat smoke with aromas of vanilla, caramel and dried fruit, accompanied by a fine wood and spice note.
Flavour: Full-bodied with intense notes of sweet peat, smoke, spices and a gentle vanilla sweetness. A light fruitiness and oak round off the flavour experience.
Finish: Long-lasting and warm, with a hint of smoke, dried fruit and a fine spiciness.
The Hunter Laing Scarabus 10 Years Old is ideal for pure enjoyment to experience its complex flavours. It goes perfectly with smoked cheese, grilled steak or caramelised nuts, which emphasise its peaty and smoky notes. Alternatively, it can be used as a base for fine whisky cocktails such as a Rob Roy or a whisky sour.
