Description

Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery, planned by John Dewar’s sons in 1896 and commissioned in 1898, is the only Scotch whisky distillery built by the Dewar family. Under the direction of the renowned architect Charles Doig, the distillery with its characteristic pagoda roof was built in Highland Perthshire, close to the birthplace of John Dewar.

The location on the Pitilie Burn, known for its gold-bearing water, which is still used in whisky production today, and the good train connections to Perth were decisive factors in the choice of location. These logistical advantages efficiently supported the whisky production process. The emotional connection to the region, close to John Dewar’s birthplace, also played a key role in the construction of Aberfeldy, making the distillery a special place in the family’s history.

This Aberfeldy 18 Years Old is a limited bottling that receives its characteristic finish in former red wine casks from the renowned Côte Rôtie. This special post-maturing in the selected casks gives the whisky unique nuances of ripe fruit and a subtle spiciness that blend seamlessly with the traditional flavours of Aberfeldy.
