Description
The Tomintoul distillery, located in the Scottish Highland Park in the Cairngorms National Park and named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, opened its doors in 1964 and is now owned by Angus Dundee Distillers.
At 370 metres above sea level, Tomintoul is the second highest distillery in Scotland, surpassed only by Braeval Distillery, which was founded in 1973. Although the majority of the 3.2 million litres of alcohol produced each year is exported to the United States for blends, Tomintoul continues to bring special single cask bottlings to the market.
The Small Batch Cask Finish series from Tomintoul is a no-age-statement series that impresses with its finish in a wide variety of casks. This whisky first matures in bourbon casks and then receives its characteristic finish in Caribbean rum casks, which gives it an unmistakable flavour.
