With The Arran DUERO DISCOVERY, the distillery from Lochranza on the Isle of Arran presents the third edition of its exclusive Signature Series. This 12-year-old single malt Scotch whisky impresses with its depth, individuality and cask-influenced flavour. Bottled as Batch No. 18-RDD-01-48, it comes from Warehouse #4 directly in Lochranza, where it was able to mature under ideal conditions. It was bottled in spring 2025 – naturally without chill-filtration and without the addition of colouring agents to preserve the natural purity and structure of this whisky.
Maturation initially took place in bourbon barrels, followed by refinement in first-fill Spanish red wine barrels, which gives the whisky its fruity depth and elegant flavour. At 50 % vol., DUERO DISCOVERY is powerful and balanced at the same time. The edition is limited to 15,049 bottles worldwide and comes in a high-quality linen bag – a collector’s item with a strong character for connoisseurs and Werder of cask-strength, authentic island whiskies.
Tasting NoteColour: Copper-coloured with red-gold reflections.
Nose: Ripe red berries, dark cherries, sweet oak and a hint of Spanish wine flavours.
Flavour: Full-bodied and balanced with notes of dark fruit, honey, vanilla, spices and a silky tannin grip from the red wine barrel.
Finish: Langs, fruity, spicy and structured with lingering warmth and fine oak notes.
The Arran DUERO DISCOVERY single malt unfolds its flavour ideally on its own or with a few drops of water to fully bring out the structure of the wine cask maturation. As an elegant dram, it is ideal for quiet moments or special occasions. Its aromatic depth is an ideal culinary accompaniment to strong hard cheeses, game dishes with red wine jus or dark chocolate with red fruits.
