Description
The Tomintoul distillery, located in the Scottish Highland Park in the Cairngorms National Park and named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, opened its doors in 1964 and is now owned by Angus Dundee Distillers.
At 370 metres above sea level, Tomintoul is the second highest distillery in Scotland, surpassed only by Braeval Distillery, which was founded in 1973. Although the majority of the 3.2 million litres of alcohol produced annually is exported to the United States for blends, Tomintoul continues to bring special single cask bottlings to the market.
The Tomintoul Tempranillo Cask Finish is a soft and flavourful whisky that is first matured in classic American bourbon oak casks before being finished in casks that previously housed Spain’s most important red wine variety, the dark fruity Tempranillo. The result is a harmonious whisky with intense aromas of strawberry jam, complemented by subtle roasted notes that add depth and complexity to the flavour.
Tasting NoteColour: Gold.
