Description

The GlenDronach Ode to the Embers is a special bottling from the Scottish Highlands that highlights a rather rare side of the traditional GlenDronach Distillery: the subtly smoky profile that is reminiscent of the earlier practice of peat firing. With a strong alcohol content of 48.4% vol. and maturation in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, this edition shows how elegantly peat smoke can be combined with sweet and spicy sherry cask maturation.

The GlenDronach distillery, founded in 1826 and based in the eastern part of the Scottish Highlands, is internationally renowned for its deep, full-bodied whiskies from sherry casks. The “Ode to the Embers” bottling stands out with its subtle smoky note, which gives the whisky an earthy, almost nostalgic depth – a tribute to the smouldering coals (embers) of the past. Uncoloured and non-chill-filtered, this limited edition offers an intense, authentic taste experience with character and expression.

The high-quality gift box (GB) emphasises the premium claim of this bottling and makes it an ideal whisky for discerning connoisseurs who appreciate complexity and a hint of smoke in the glass.

Tasting NoteColour: Dark copper with a red-golden shimmer.

Nose: Dried fruit, leather, cloves, sultanas and a subtle hint of smoke.

Flavour: Full-bodied and powerful with notes of peat smoke, dark chocolate, caramel, roasted nuts and dried figs.

Finish: Langs and warming with lingering sherry sweetness, smoky oak and spicy notes.

Ideal neat or with a few drops of water in a nosing glass. Perfect with grilled meat, smoked cheese or dark chocolate with chilli. Also an excellent accompaniment to a cigar with earthy spice. A complex Highland malt for lovers of elegant smokiness and full-bodied sherry depth.
