Description
The Dalmore CIGAR MALT Reserve is a full-bodied Highland single malt Scotch whisky, 44 per cent ABV, in a 0.7-litre bottle complete with a gift box. For this bottling, the historic Dalmore Distillery has carefully blended whiskies from three different types of cask. The whiskies are matured in ex-bourbon casks made from American white oak, selected Cabernet Sauvignon barriques, and the Matusalem Oloroso sherry casks, which are of particular significance to The Dalmore. The interplay of these cask types lends the single malt a complex structure, with American oak, red wine casks and sherry casks each contributing different facets to the overall composition.
The Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve takes its name from the fact that it was specifically developed as a single malt whisky to accompany a cigar. The pronounced cask character and the bottling strength of 44% ABV ensure that the whisky retains sufficient presence even when paired with more intense cigars. Here, the vanilla and oak notes from the ex-bourbon casks meet the fruity influence of the Cabernet Sauvignon casks and the intense depth of the Matusalem Oloroso sherry casks. This unique blend of casks makes the Dalmore Cigar Malt 0.7 l an intriguing choice for lovers of complex Highland whiskies and for connoisseurs seeking a single malt specifically tailored to be enjoyed with cigars.
Tasting NoteColour: Dark amber with warm coppery highlights.
Nose: Toasted oak, bourbon vanilla, red berries and cinnamon with a pronounced sweet and spicy depth.
Palate: Full-bodied and complex, with caramelised banana, vanilla cream, pineapple and coconut, accompanied by a slightly salty nuance and increasingly toasty oak.
Finish: Long-lasting, robust and spicy with orange zest, vanilla and subtle oak notes.
The Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve is specially designed to be enjoyed neat at room temperature alongside a medium-bodied to full-bodied cigar; cigars with notes of wood, leather, cocoa and spices pair well with its intense cask character. Culinary pairings include beef fillet, game dishes or strong, mature hard cheeses. To round off a meal, dark chocolate, caramelised nuts and desserts featuring orange, vanilla or cocoa are ideal, as they complement its sherry, fruit and oak notes perfectly.
