Description

This exciting single cask bottling from the Cask Masters series by Brave New Spirits brings a characterful single grain Scotch whisky from the traditional North British Distillery to the glass. Distilled in 2011 and bottled after 13 years of maturation in cask #248817, this whisky is in its natural form: unchill-filtered, uncoloured and at a strong cask strength of 50.1% vol. – ideal for connoisseurs looking for authentic quality and rarity.

The North British Distillery, founded in Edinburgh in 1885, is one of the oldest active grain distilleries in Scotland and is known for its elegant, slightly sweet grain style. The maturation in a selected cask gives this whisky a pleasant depth and a surprisingly complex flavour profile, which shows how high-quality and exciting single grain whiskies can be.

Tasting NoteColour: Light gold with a slight copper sheen.

Nose: Sweet and fragrant with vanilla, caramel, cream toffee, light-coloured fruit and a hint of coconut.

Flavour: Smooth and creamy with notes of honey, cereals, vanilla pudding, cinnamon and butterscotch.

Finish: Medium length, round and slightly spicy with a fine sweetness, dark chocolate and cereal notes.

This North British single grain whisky is ideal for Purist enjoyment – either at room temperature or with a drop of water to open up the variety of flavours even further. It is particularly recommended for newcomers to the world of single grains as well as for experienced collectors. In culinary terms, it harmonises with creamy desserts, buttery pastries or mild cheese. This bottling also makes an interesting contrast to dark chocolate with sea salt or as a digestif after a light dinner.
