Description
The Signatory Vintage Aberfeldy 11 Years Old Cask Strength 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry #2 2014 is an exclusive Highland single malt Scotch whisky that impressively demonstrates the influence a first-fill sherry cask can have on a characterful whisky. This single malt was distilled in June 2014 at the historic Aberfeldy Distillery and, after eleven years of maturation, was bottled in May 2026 by the renowned independent bottler Signatory Vintage as part of its Cask Strength Collection. With an ABV of 59.3%, a 0.7-litre bottle presented in a high-quality tin box, natural cask strength and a limited run of just 663 bottles worldwide, this bottling is aimed at connoisseurs of intense sherry cask whiskies.
This single cask whisky spends its entire maturation period in a first-fill Oloroso sherry butt (#2). The intensive cask maturation lends the Aberfeldy exceptional depth and combines the smooth Highland character with the rich influences of Spanish Oloroso sherry casks. The whisky is bottled without chill filtration and without colouring, thereby fully preserving its natural character. The robust cask strength already reveals an impressive spectrum of aromas when enjoyed neat, whilst a few drops of water bring out additional facets and further enhance its complexity.
Tasting NoteColour: Deep rust-brown with mahogany-coloured highlights.
Nose: Intense Oloroso sherry, delicate honey, warm vanilla, dark fruits and fine nuts.
Palate: Full-bodied and powerful with raisins, creamy caramel, dark chocolate, spicy oak and complex sherry notes.
Finish: Medium-long to long, with cocoa, distinctive oaky spice and lingering honey, nut and sherry flavours.
The Signatory Vintage Aberfeldy 11 Years Old Cask Strength 1st Fill Oloroso Sherry #2 2014 reveals its complex character best when enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water, which brings out additional notes of fruit, spice and chocolate. Its intense sherry cask character harmonises superbly with dark chocolate, pralines, nut-based desserts or fruit cakes with raisins and figs. Matured hard cheese, roasted nuts or a high-quality cigar also pair excellently with this single cask Highland whisky. The combination of a first-fill Oloroso sherry butt, cask strength, single cask and a limited run of 663 bottles makes this bottling a highly sought-after collector’s item and a special treat for connoisseurs.
