Description
The Laphroaig 10 Years Old Cask Strength Batch 17 58.3% vol. 0.7 l is an uncompromising bottling for lovers of intensely peaty Islay single malt Scotch whiskies. Since 1815, the Laphroaig Distillery has been synonymous with a distinctive whisky style, renowned worldwide for its powerful notes of smoke, sea and peat. With Batch 17, the distillery continues this tradition, presenting a whisky that has been matured for 10 years and then bottled at natural cask strength of 58.3% vol. Cold filtration has been deliberately avoided. Instead, only gentle barrier filtration is carried out to remove cask residues whilst preserving all the natural aromas and oils. As a result, the whisky goes from the cask into the 0.7 l bottle virtually unchanged – authentic, intense and unadulterated.
The Laphroaig 10 Years Old Cask Strength Batch 17 combines the characteristic Islay peat smoke with maritime influences and a surprising sweetness. Alongside robust peaty smoke, heather and sea salt, notes of stewed apples, vanilla cream and pears in syrup unfold, accompanied by a subtle menthol freshness. Despite its high alcohol content, the whisky remains remarkably balanced and reveals additional facets when a few drops of water are added. The long finish, featuring black pepper, sweet smoke and intense tar, makes this bottling an extraordinary experience for seasoned whisky connoisseurs.
Tasting NoteColour: Bright gold.
Nose: Strong peaty smoke, heather, sea salt, vanilla cream, stewed apples, pears in syrup and a hint of menthol.

The Laphroaig 10 Years Old Cask Strength Batch 17 best reveals its complex character when enjoyed neat, allowing you to fully experience its natural cask strength and intense Islay aromas. A few drops of still water reveal additional fruity and creamy nuances without masking the distinctive peaty smoke – a way of enjoying it that is also recommended by the distillery. Culinary pairings: this powerful single malt harmonises superbly with smoked salmon, oysters, grilled beef, game dishes, strong blue cheese or dark chocolate with a high cocoa content. As a cask-strength batch bottling, non-chill-filtered and with its unmistakable Islay character, this edition is aimed particularly at experienced whisky enthusiasts and collectors of authentic Laphroaig bottlings.
