The Ardbeg 21 Years Old The Ultimate Private Single Cask Whisky is an exceptionally rare Islay single malt Scotch whisky bottling from the historic Ardbeg Distillery. This single malt was distilled on 23 May 2000, before maturing for over 21 years until it was bottled on 1 March 2022. The focus is on the single cask No. 1565, which was set aside for an exceptionally long maturation period due to its unique development. The cask is in keeping with the sherry cask style characteristic of Ardbeg Uigeadail: according to the available information, it is an Oloroso sherry cask that had previously been used within the Glenmorangie portfolio for similar cask maturations.
After more than two decades, the whisky from cask No. 1565 was finally bottled as an exclusive Ardbeg Private Single Cask at a robust 51%. A total of just 555 bottles were produced, making this bottling particularly appealing to collectors of rare and aged Ardbeg whiskies. The combination of 21 years’ maturation, single cask, the year 2000, an Oloroso sherry cask and an extremely limited bottling run sets this Islay whisky apart from the distillery’s regular releases. The 0.7 l bottle is presented in a gift box. As a long-matured Ardbeg, this rarity combines the distillery’s characteristic Islay heritage with the intense influence of an exceptionally long cask maturation and a fully documented cask number.

Nose: Intense and multi-layered with dark dried fruit, sherry notes and robust oak, combined with Ardbeg’s characteristic smoke and spicy accents.
Palate: Powerful and complex with dark fruit sweetness, spicy oak and rich sherry notes, accompanied by peat smoke and a deep, mature structure.
Finish: Very long-lasting, smoky and spicy with dark fruit, dry oak and lingering sherry notes.
Given its age, rarity and single-cask bottling, the Ardbeg 21 Years Old Private Single Cask is best enjoyed neat at room temperature in a nosing glass. At 51% ABV, a few drops of still water can help to further reveal the complex sherry, smoke and oak facets. It pairs well with strong, mature cheeses, smoked meats or high-quality dark chocolate. As it is limited to just 555 bottles worldwide, this 21-year-old Ardbeg is particularly well-suited to special whisky tastings and discerning collections.
