Taylor’s Select Reserve Port, 19% ABV, in a 0.75 l bottle, is a classic Ruby Reserve Port from Taylor’s, one of Portugal’s most traditional and prestigious port producers. This cuvée blends selected red wines from the renowned regions of Baixo Corgo and Cima Corgo in the Upper Douro Valley. The wines are carefully selected according to criteria such as colour intensity, fruit concentration and structure, resulting in a characterful and expressive port.
Following vinification, the selected wines are aged for around three years in large oak casks, where they develop harmony and complexity without losing their intense fruitiness or their characteristic deep red colour. This ageing phase ensures a perfect balance between freshness, power and elegance. Taylor’s Select Reserve Port is regarded as an excellent introduction to the world of premium port wines and impresses with its classic style, which authentically reflects the tradition of the Douro region. With its full-bodied character and intense fruitiness, it is ideal both for special occasions and as a versatile accompaniment to food. The wine is ready to drink and does not require decanting.
Tasting NoteIn the glass, Taylor’s Select Reserve Port displays a deep ruby red colour with garnet-red highlights. On the nose, intense aromas of dark fruit unfold, with pronounced notes of blackberries and ripe wild berries. On the palate, this port is robust, full-bodied and well-structured, with concentrated fruit flavours and impressive depth. Its balanced texture lends it elegance and harmony. The finish is long, intense and lingering.
Taylor’s Select Reserve Port pairs superbly with mature Cheddar, spicy hard cheeses and classic cheese platters. This Portuguese reserve port also goes excellently with desserts featuring dark chocolate, chocolate cake, brownies or berry-based desserts. It also reveals its full class when enjoyed neat as a digestif after a good meal. The recommended serving temperature is 12–16 °C, served slightly chilled.
