Lustau DON NUÑO Oloroso Jerez-Xérès-Sherry 20% Vol. 0,75l
£25.33
The Lustau DON NUÑO Oloroso is a classic Oloroso sherry from Jerez de la Frontera, made exclusively from 100% Palomino grapes and authentically reflecting the traditional style of this historic region of origin. The renowned house of Emilio Lustau is one of Andalusia’s leading producers and is internationally recognised for its precise barrel selection and the consistently long maturation of its sherries. This bottling is matured oxidatively for over 12 years in the legendary Bodega La Campana, allowing its structure, depth and expressiveness to fully develop without the influence of flor yeast. With an alcohol content of 20%, this dry Oloroso is powerful, concentrated and yet balanced, characterised by classic elegance and clear lines.
The oxidative maturation gives the wine a striking complexity and emphasises the characteristic style of a pure Palomino Oloroso. The DON NUÑO Oloroso stands for intensity, density and a long-lasting presence and is suitable both for pure enjoyment and for sophisticated gastronomic combinations. As a sherry from Andalusia with a clear origin and traditional vinification, it is aimed at lovers of dry, structured wines with depth and maturity profile.
Awards:
– GOLD International Wine & Spirit Competition 2017
Tasting NoteDark bronze in the glass with a golden rim. Intensely nutty on the nose with a distinctive spiciness and smoky wood background. Powerful and rich on the palate with notes of dark chocolate, walnuts and baked chestnuts. The finish is concentrated and lingering and is carried by a fine, invigorating acidity.
Acidity: 4.85 g/l
Residual sugar: Less than 1 g/l
Lustau DON NUÑO Oloroso is a versatile food companion and is ideal with savoury and aromatically intense dishes. It harmonises particularly well with mature hard cheese, strong Manchego or Comté, as well as with roasted nuts and savoury tapas. It also develops its depth and structure very convincingly with game dishes, braised beef or mushroom dishes with roasted flavours. In the kitchen, this dry Oloroso sherry can also be used to refine sauces or reductions. It is also ideal as an after-dinner meditation wine when a complex, expressive sherry with a Langs finish is required.
