Tenuta San Guido Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC 2022 13,5% Vol. 0,75l

£333.03

The Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2022 is a living legend – an iconic Super Tuscan that has been recognised worldwide for decades as one of Italy’s greatest red wines. As the only wine with its own DOC – the Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC – it stands for uncompromising quality, depth and elegance. It comes exclusively from the famous Tenuta San Guido winery, which established a completely new understanding of quality in Tuscany with Sassicaia in the 1960s.

The 2022 vintage is expressive and structured with exceptional ageing potential. As usual, the cuvée consists of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. The vines grow on gravelly soils – hence the name “Sassicaia” (“stony”) – in the hills near Bolgheri, just a few kilometres from the Tyrrhenian Sea. After the harvest, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by ageing for around 25 months in French barriques (some new, some second-use), followed by bottle ageing.

With 13.5% alcohol by volume, a natural cork stopper and ageing potential of over 25 years, this Sassicaia 2022 is an experience for connoisseurs and collectors – powerful, precise, aristocratic.

Tasting NoteIn the glass, the Sassicaia 2022 is a deep, dark ruby red colour with violet hues. The nose reveals a multi-layered bouquet of blackcurrants, blackberries, cedar wood, violets and a hint of Graphit. On the palate, the wine is precise, multi-layered and at the same time velvety, with polished tannins, a clear acid structure and a finesse-rich depth. The finish is long, fresh and mineral, characterised by dark fruit, herbs and fine spice. A Sassicaia of great balance, freshness and longevity.

The Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2022 is a red wine for great moments – ideal with bistecca alla Fiorentina, rack of lamb, braised game, matured Parmesan or truffle dishes. It also offers an unforgettable pleasure experience with fine pasta variations, fillet of beef or a porcini mushroom tart. Served at 16-18 °C in a large Bordeaux glass, it really comes into its own. Perfect for festive menus, luxurious evenings or as a high-quality gift for true wine lovers.
