Salzl Spätlese White 2023 10,5% Vol. 0,75l

£9.27

The Salzl Spätlese Weiß 2023 is a seductive, delicately fruity white wine with a balanced sweetness and refreshing acidity – a real highlight for lovers of elegant Prädikat wines. This fine cuvée is made from the grape varieties Sämling 88, Chardonnay and Bouvier, which thrive in the Seewinkel region of Burgenland on nutrient-rich black soil consisting of loamy silt with a high gravel content. This soil structure ensures intense flavours, lively freshness and a fine mineral component.

The grapes are fermented at a controlled temperature of 15 °C in steel tanks, with fermentation being deliberately interrupted at a residual sugar content of 73.3 g/l to create the typical, elegant interplay of sweetness and acidity. The wine then matures for two months on the fine lees, which gives it a creamy texture and additional flavour. With 10.5% alcohol by volume, the Spätlese Weiß 2023 is pleasantly light, yet dense and aromatically intense. Ready to drink from 2025, the wine has storage potential until at least 2030.

An ideal wine for connoisseurs looking for fruit-accentuated sweetness with freshness, elegance and depth – both on its own and with refined dishes.

Tasting NoteIn the glass, the wine is a bright golden yellow with subtle green reflections. The nose is caressed by vineyard peach, nectarine, elderflower, chamomile, floral honey, pineapple and lychee, complemented by fine herbal notes, grapefruit and nettle. On the palate, the Spätlese is dense, full of finesse and balanced, with an animating fruit bouquet, fine citrus notes, caramel, peach, apricot and elderberry. The creamy texture, intense melting texture and harmonious balance of sweetness and acidity make for a multi-layered and seductive drinking experience.

Acidity: 6.2 g/l

Residual sugar: 73.3 g/l

The Salzl Spätlese Weiß 2023 is an excellent accompaniment to Asian dishes, poultry and rabbit liver, fine terrines, cream cheese preparations or light seafood such as shellfish and molluscs. It is also an excellent choice with fruity desserts or as an elegant end to a meal. Enjoy it well chilled at 8-10 °C – for an aromatically complex, juicy and creamy yet fresh white wine experience with style and sophistication.
