Salzl Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2021 14% Vol. 0,75l
£19.68
The Salzl Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2021 stands for powerful, precisely vinified Cabernet Sauvignon from Burgenland and reflects the consistent quality philosophy of the Salzl winery. This Reserve bottling is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and comes from sandy soils that give the wine structure, depth and a striking mineral tension. Vinification is carried out traditionally with mash fermentation in steel tanks at 30 °C and a maceration period of 14 days, followed by malolactic fermentation to build up strength and balance. With an alcohol content of 14%, the 2021 vintage is dense, expressive and elegant at the same time.
Maturation for 12 months in small oak barrels made from 100% new wood gives the wine additional depth, flavour and structure without masking the varietal character. The result is a long-lasting reserve red wine that is ideal for ageing with a recommended drinking age of 2025 to 2035 and has clear development potential. A drinking temperature of 16 to 18 °C is recommended in order to optimise the structure, fruit and wood integration. This bottling is aimed at lovers of characterful red wines with depth, precision and a long-lasting presence.
Tasting NoteDeep, dark ruby-garnet colour with an opaque core and violet reflections in the glass. Dark wild berry confit on the nose, fine notes of cassis, delicate spicy oak, dark chocolate and vegetal hints of red pepper, cucumber and tomato leaf. Juicy and full-bodied on the palate with present, well-integrated tannins, salty mineral freshness and notes of raspberries and redcurrants. The finish is taut, elegant and long-lasting with black berry fruit, black sour cherry, cocoa, nougat, herbs, delicate roasted flavours and a fine coconut toast.
Acidity: 4.8 g/l
Residual sugar: 1.3 g/l
The Salzl Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2021 is an excellent accompaniment to beef in a wide variety of preparations, from braised beef to steak and quick-roasted cuts. It is also very harmonious in combination with light game dishes such as fallow deer, fawn or fresh venison, where the structure and flavour of the wine really come into their own. This Cabernet Sauvignon from Burgenland also goes well with strong meat sauces and dishes with roasted flavours. As a soloist, it convinces in quiet moments of enjoyment and shows all its depth, elegance and long-lasting structure with a little air in the glass.
