Hannes Reeh Heideboden Cuvée Red 2021 14% Vol. 1,5l

£29.04

The Hannes Reeh Heideboden Cuvée Rot 2021 is a powerful yet elegantly structured Austrian red wine from Burgenland that impressively reflects the unique terroir of the Heideboden in Seewinkel. The cuvée is made up of 60% Zweigelt, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot – a combination that unites regional typicity with an international sense of style. The vines grow on a gravel soil with a sandy content, which ensures excellent drainage and minerality. Thanks to the warm, Pannonian climate with cool nights, the grapes develop intense flavours and a precise structure.

The grapes are harvested by hand before undergoing spontaneous fermentation, which gives the cuvée its natural authenticity. After a maceration period of around four weeks, the wine is matured in stainless steel tanks and partly in barriques, giving the wine freshness as well as depth and complexity. With a screw cap, it retains its aromatic purity and drinking pleasure for years. The ageing potential extends to 2033, which emphasises its exceptional substance and stability.

Awards:

– Vintage 2015: 91/100 points Falstaff

– JG 2020: 90/100 points Falstaff

Tasting NoteThe Hannes Reeh Heideboden Cuvée Rot 2021 has a dark ruby red colour with violet reflections in the glass. The nose is dominated by aromas of dark and ripe berries, accompanied by fine notes of plum, cherry and spicy hints. The Zweigelt variety is particularly prominent and characterises the aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, harmonious and supported by velvety tannins. The texture is dense and balanced, the finish elegant, fruity and long-lasting.

Acidity: 5.2 g/l

Residual sugar: 2 g/l

The Hannes Reeh Heideboden Cuvée Rot 2021 is an excellent accompaniment to braised lamb with rosemary potatoes, grilled beef or game dishes, as well as strong pasta dishes, mature hard cheese or spicy BBQ dishes. Its velvety structure and elegant spiciness make it a versatile companion for rich meat dishes and cosy evenings. The optimum drinking temperature is 16-18 °C, and it will be ready to drink from now until 2033. A red wine from Burgenland with a strong character that impresses with its depth, balance and authentic craftsmanship.
