Marchesi Antinori Solaia Firenze IGT 2021 14% Vol. 0,75l

£416.31

The Antinori family has been involved in wine production for more than 600 years, starting with Giovanni di Piero Antinori’s admission to the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri in 1385. This tradition, which spans 26 generations, has always been led directly by the family, characterised by innovative choices with constant respect for tradition and origin.

Marchesi Antinori Solaia is an exclusive cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc, whose grapes thrive on chalky soils. During the hand-picking process, great care was taken to select the perfect grapes in order to guarantee the quality of the wine. All three grape varieties were fermented at controlled temperatures between 27° and a maximum of 31° in order to preserve the freshness, flavour and character of the fruit.

After alcoholic fermentation and racking of the must, the individual wines were transferred to new oak barriques, where they were initially allowed to develop separately. They were then blended, followed by a maturation period of around 12 months in the barriques. After this careful ageing, the Solaia is bottled and sealed with a natural cork.

With an impressive ageing potential until 2036, Solaia offers an elegant drinking experience characterised by depth, finesse and exceptional quality.

Awards:

– 97/100 points Robert Parker Wine Advocate

– 100 points Vinous by Antonio Galloni

– 97/100 points James Suckling

Tasting NoteDense ruby garnet colour in the glass. Intensely fruity nose of dark fruits, accompanied by spicy notes. Complex, well-structured on the palate, notes of cassis, cloves, mint and tobacco. The flavour is accompanied by gentle tannins. Long lasting on the finish.

An excellent accompaniment to grilled poultry and baked beef.
