Erwin Sabathi Gelber Muskateller Ried Krepskogel Südsteiermark DAC 2024 12,5% Vol. 0,75l
£28.00
The Erwin Sabathi Gelber Muskateller Ried Krepskogel Südsteiermark DAC 2024 is an outstanding Austrian white wine that epitomises the typicity of southern Styria in its purest form. It comes from the Krepskogel vineyard, a classified Erste STK site characterised by its steep, south-facing slopes with an average gradient of 55%. At an altitude of 440 to 515 metres above sea level, the grapes ripen under optimal conditions, cooled by Alpine winds and supplied with intense sunlight.
The Gelber Muskateller grape variety is cultivated here organically and sustainably. Hand-picking guarantees the highest quality, while fermentation takes place using natural yeasts in the traditional method. The wine then matures for 12 months in large, classic wooden barrels before being bottled under a screw cap. This natural vinification and ageing gives the wine elegance, freshness and longevity. With a drinking maturity of five years or more, it has exceptional ageing potential and impressively demonstrates that Gelber Muskateller is not only a light summer wine, but also a structured and long-lasting top wine.
Tasting NoteIn the glass, the Gelber Muskateller Ried Krepskogel 2024 presents itself in a bright light yellow colour with greenish reflections. On the nose, it develops a complex aroma of fragrant rose petals, freshly grated nutmeg and candied orange peel. On the palate, it is juicy and clear, like the pure pleasure of ripe muscat grapes, accompanied by delicate tangerine notes in the long, intense finish.
Residual sugar: 1.4 g/l
Acidity: 5 g/litre
This Gelber Muskateller from Southern Styria is ideal as an aperitif wine, but also goes wonderfully with fresh salads, light starters, Asian-inspired dishes or seasonal vegetables. It also harmonises well with mild cheeses or poultry. It develops its elegant flavour best at a serving temperature of 8-10 °C. Its freshness and complexity make it a rewarding choice both for immediate consumption and for storage over many years.
